XC COMPETES IN GREAT LAKES REGIONAL
The College’s cross-country teams both finished in the middle of the pack at the NCAA Div. III Great Lakes Regional on Saturday in Alexandria, Ind. The men’s team finished in 17th place out of 35 schools in the 8K race. They were led by Luke Hutchings-Goetz ’14, who finished with a time of 25:43.29, 19th among 72 competitors. In the women’s 6K, the Scots landed in 15th out of 33 schools. Erin Plews-Ogan led the way with a finishing time of 22:38.91, putting her in 26th place out of 72 runners. This was the last meet of the season for Wooster cross country, and the last college race ever for eight seniors — three on the men’s team and five on the women’s team.

GRIZZLIES EXECUTIVE PASSES AWAY
Memphis Grizzlies assistant general manager Kenny Williamson lost his battle with cancer on Tuesday morning. He was 65 years old. Williamson had just begun his sixth season with the Grizzlies, a franchise that has struggled since its inception in 1995, but has recently become a winning team. Williamson helped oversee the team as it began to acquire key players such as Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Tony Allen, who have been instrumental in getting the Grizzlies to the playoffs in consecutive seasons. Williamson was previously a scout for the Charlotte Bobcats and the New York Knicks, and worked as a college assistant for 21 years (Yahoo! Sports).

ROOKIES OF THE YEAR ANNOUNCED
Major League Baseball’s Rookie of the Year awards were announced on Monday. Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout won the American League award unanimously. Trout was second in the AL in batting average with .326, hitting 30 home runs and knocking in 83 RBIs. His 129 runs and 49 steals led the majors. Trout beat out Oakland’s Yoenis Cespedes and Texas’ Yu Darvish for the award. The National League award went to Washington Nationals’ outfielder Bryce Harper, who edged out Arizona’s Wade Miley with 16 out of 32 first-place votes. Harper led the Nationals to their first playoff appearance since relocating from Montreal, batting .270 with 22 home runs and 59 RBIs (Yahoo! Sports).
