Charlie Holt ’19 led the Fighting Scots to a fourth-place finish at the Purple Raider Invitational over the weekend. The Purple Raider Invitational was hosted by the University of Mount Union at Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance, Ohio. The Scots shot a solid 305 as a team on Saturday and managed to improve on Sunday by four strokes. Overall, the Scots finished only 10 shots behind eventual champions Baldwin-Wallace University. Mount Union and John Carroll University managed to narrowly beat Wooster, while Muskingnum University, Westminster College and conference rivals Hiram College wrapped up the field. Holt finished in fifth place individually, only five shots behind the top individual performer. Number one player Marcus Carano ’16 and Calvin Milligan ’16 both shot a 153 over the weekend, each finishing tied for 17th. Raghu Bir Choudary ’19 finished tied for 33rd, while Brenden Tully ’18 finished strong on Sunday with a score of 74. Competing as an individual, Andrew DeLaat ’19 finished in the top-10 with a weekend score of 149. The College of Wooster men’s golf team is off this weekend, but will host the annual Nye Intercollegiate on Oct. 10 and 11. The Nye Intercollegiate will be a tough test for the Scots. All NCAC teams apart from Oberlin College will be competing and the tournament will provide a good barometer for the Scots as to where they stand in the conference. The Nye Intercollegiate will be held at the Wooster Country Club.
