Being a Wooster student, for the most part, means living on campus. Whether you are a first-year student getting to know your roommate, hall mates and everyone else, an upper-class student navigating living in a house with your friends or a senior embracing your last year on campus, there are some helpful reminders that we would like to give to help make your year a successful one.
• If you have a roommate, talk to each other. There will be times when texting or leaving post-it notes works as a great way to communicate, but don’t forget to talk. Talk when things are going well, and talk when things get bumpy.
• There will be strain in your relationship with your roommate. Roommates are not mind readers. They don’t always know when you are upset. Don’t write them a note expressing your feelings. Please also avoid ranting on Facebook, Twitter (subtweets count) or Instagram. (Snapchat is okay — JUST KIDDING, no snaps either.) Leaving out your roommate’s name doesn’t make it okay. See the tip above for the best way to approach problems.
- Bulletin boards are made with love and created for your viewing pleasure. Please don’t tear them down. If you like it so much that you want a copy for your room, talk to your RA; they can hook you up.
• Things break, and we want to get them fixed. If something is broken, please let your RA know. If we don’t know it is broken, we can’t help get it fixed.
• The Campus Life Office typically has information, candy and smiling faces! Stop by and visit us if you are bored, having a rough day, or just want something sweet.
