Downtown Wooster recently welcomed a new women’s boutique, Poppy, which offers its customers clothes, shoes, handbags, jewelry and home products.

While the store itself is not particularly large, it does have a wide variety of products and it makes the point to bring in new clothes every week.

A Poppy sales associate described it as a ‘‘destination shop’’ because Poppy sells brand-name clothes you wouldn’t normally find at the mall. Some of the brands they offer include: Free People, good hYOUman, Mystree and Spartina. They plan to bring in TOMS soon as well.

While the prices may be loftier than what Wooster students are accustomed to, it sells high quality, brand-name clothing and a premium denim collection that includes  Hudson, Ag, Cookie Johnson, Miss Me, etc.

The boutique first opened  in Mansfield, Ohio and, due to the extremely successful there, the owner decided to open a branch in Wooster as well. So far it has been well received by all ages; the store brings something to Wooster that it hasn’t seen before.

Their customer service includes clothing specialists who help you find that great look and fit. They have a loyalty card for frequent customers. They also travel to Las Vegas, Chicago, New York and Atlanta to find brands that meet everyone’s needs and wants here in Wooster.

“It’s nice to have a boutique in town, which, although a little expensive, has well-made and fashionable clothes,” says Makenzie Adkins ’17, who recently shopped at the store. “I loved the style as well as the bright and peppy atmosphere.”

One of the store’s specialties is also its painted village scarves, which add a fresh but natural look to your spring outfit. I personally loved the patterns on the spring dresses and skirts and the jewelry designs.

While the boutique’s $10 discount offer to Wooster students was only valid on the opening weekend, Poppy does hope to collaborate with the College at some point in the future because it wants to encourage Wooster students to buy from them.

Students can visit their Facebook link, www.facebook.com/poppyfashionsmansfield, which will keep them in the loop about student coupons and upcoming sales.
