The Wooster women’s tennis team traveled to Delaware, Ohio to attend a tri-match with Ohio Wesleyan University and Adrian University this past weekend. The Scots split the two matches, losing to Ohio Wesleyan 2-7 and beating Adrian College 6-3.

The tennis team had a rough start to its season, losing nine of their first 12 matches. However, the Scots recently gained confidence with a 9-0 victory over Wittenberg University last week.

In their first contest of the day, the Scots took two of their seven matches. Rose Chiumento ’17 was the only player to win a singles match. She took the victory in two sets with scores of 6-4 and 6-1. The doubles team of Catherine Christian ’16 and Rachel Molé ’17 defeated Ohio Wesleyan’s first slotted doubles team with a score of 8-6.

In the contest against Adrian College, the Scots’ three new doubles pairs gelled well together on the court. The first seeded team, Christian and Morgan Wagers ’18, easily beat the Adrian doubles team, while the other two doubles pairs, Catherine Boyles ’17 and Molé, and Elizabeth Brewington ’17 and Melanie Chin ’15, beat their opponents in two close matches. Christianson, Molé and Bonnie Salmeron ’18 claimed victory in three of the six singles matches.

The Scots will look to improve their record in their upcoming matches. They faced Oberlin College on Wednesday after press time. They take on Taylor University at home today at 1 p.m.
