Bostonians line up for ten thousand free vibrators

Hundreds of people lined up in Boston this past Monday for a free vibrator courtesy of Trojan. The event was originally scheduled to be held in front of City Plaza in Boston, but was eventually moved due to protests by the Mayor’s office.

The event started around noon, but people began lining up at eight or nine in the morning, with the line eventually snaking around the block and down the street. A “Pleasure Cart” was set up that handed out the vibrators, patterned after the standard hot dog stand. The line featured a “bouncer” who checked ID’s, ensuring that all who participated were over 18.

The line featured a variety of people, from young women planning to use the free vibrators as stocking stuffers, to an older woman reportedly holding a sign that said “I’m old, not dead.”

Participants explained how they found out about the event from sources as varied as Facebook to phone calls from their mothers alerting them to the Trojan giveaway.

Trojan estimates that nearly 10,000 vibrators in total were given away. Similar giveaways were held in New York City and Washington D.C., with Boston being the latest event to “bring pleasure to the streets.” Boston’s event was the only one where the ID’s were checked, with the previous events simply featuring carts on the streets.
