Tartan Traders: the College’s own mini-Craigslist

By Emily Bartelheim, Features Editor

Have something to sell or that you just want to get rid of? Services that you can offer or need?

Well, luckily for you, the Staff Committee is reviving the College of Wooster Exchange that used to run on the back page of the C.O.W. Talk, which was a newsletter for College of Wooster staff and faculty that was published in the early 2000s.

Tartan Traders is a site within the College’s website provided as a liaison for potential buyers and sellers of (almost) anything and everything around the College of Wooster campus and the Wooster community.

This buy-and-sell connection functions as a mini-Craigslist for multiple things: items for sale (which could include anything from sports game tickets, to musical instruments, to even canning jars), job openings in the community, furniture to be given away, items people are seeking and even apartment rental notices.

In fact, I could buy that awesome yellow vintage kitchen/dinette table set I’ve been looking for, or a ceiling speaker for some surround-sound action in my 15′ x 7′ dorm room right now!

Items are left on the website for one month before they are removed, but once the site’s popularity explodes, who knows how long everything will last.

The site is listed on the College of Wooster website under “Faculty and Staff” and then under “College of Wooster Staff Committee.”

If you have something that you would like to place on the online list, notice of items may be e-mailed to tartantraders@wooster.edu.

After sending your item’s information, simply sit back and relax -ó it will only be a matter of time before the College’s student body sees your exemplary item-for-sale.

Who knows, you may be able to finally get rid of that ugly sweater your grandma knitted for you.† Or maybe even sell your television in hope of saving up some money for those spring break plane tickets to Florida.

I, personally, will be looking for some ski poles in high hopes of being able to walk around campus without falling 62845 times in this terrible icey weather.

Whatever your reason may be for buying or selling, Tartan Traders gives college members a convenient place to do just so.
