Murder case considered in elections

Elizabeth Esty, a Democratic representative in the state House, is working to convince constituents she is still the best choice for representative for Cheshire, Conn. Her seat for representative is at stake due to her anti-death penalty stance. According to the Wall Street Journal, a horrific triple-murder case struck the town of Cheshire in 2007. Two men, Steven Hayes and Joshua Kornisarjevsky, broke into the home of Dr. William Petit and beat him with a bat in the basement of his own house and then strangled his wife after she gave them all of their money. One of the men involved in the high-profile killings awaits his sentencing during the time of midterm elections.
