North Korea decries U.N. sanctions

North Koreaís Ambassador to Britain Ja Song Nam states that the authoritarian state strives for a peaceful and nuclear-free peninsula, but unfair treatment from the international community prevents such actions from occurring. The United Nations Security Council recently instituted economic sanctions as well as trade and arms embargoes against the state after authorities in the capital of Pyongyang carried out a nuclear test on May 25.

Ja Song Nam also stated nuclear power would exist in North Korea until the external threats to sovereignty were eliminated.
